Engage with Global Mission
We are part of the most exciting thing going on in the world today; the ingathering of the elect from every nation, tribe, and tongue. There is literally nothing more exciting going on across the planet, and we all get to be involved.
"And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation." - Revelation 5:9
This is our future, this is where we are heading, and this is what we are caught up in right here, right now. We are part of the global movement of a global God. For some, this will involve going to the nations. But whether you go or stay, all are sent.
Scripture underscores the importance of reaching all nations with the message of Christ. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commissions His followers: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." This Great Commission calls every believer to participate in spreading the Gospel, whether near or far.
Engaging with global mission is a profound calling that extends beyond crossing international borders; it involves reaching out to diverse communities, including those within our local neighbourhoods.
See Beyond Your Immediate World
A kingdom mindset means recognizing that God’s mission is not just local—it’s global. Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19), and the Bible is full of God’s heart for the nations. From the promise to Abraham that “all peoples on earth will be blessed” through his descendants (Genesis 12:3) to the vision in Revelation 7:9 of a multitude from every nation worshipping before the throne, we see that God’s mission has always been global in scope.
Why Global Missions Matter
Too often, we can have a narrow view of God's work, focusing only on our personal faith or local church. However, Jesus’ command to “go into all the world” (Mark 16:15) is a call for every believer to be engaged in His global mission. Even if we are not personally called to move overseas, we have a role to play—whether through prayer, financial support, or encouraging those who are called to go.
Practical Ideas:
Learn about the Unreached - we partner with the Unreached Network to play our part in reaching the unreached peoples of the world. Check it out and get involved!
Pray for the Nations – Choose a country each week and pray for the church there, for missionaries, and for unreached people groups. Use resources like Operation World or the Joshua Project to guide your prayers.
Support a Missionary – Financially support a missionary or write them encouragement emails. Many missionaries experience loneliness or discouragement, and your support can be a huge blessing.
Learn About Other Cultures – Read books, listen to podcasts, or attend cultural events to better understand the people God is calling you to reach. This can also include reaching out to international students or immigrants in your local community.
