Love Bexley
Love Bexley is a support service for families in need of a little help. We work in partnership with Frontline professionals in order to provide support for families who are most in need. All support is via referrals from Frontline Professionals who refer families to us.
In March 2023 we became a trusted distributor of the Bexley Household Support Fund (BHSF). This is a national grant funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, that has been made available to support those most in need to help with the rising cost of living. The Fund is intended to cover a wide range of low-income households in need including families with children of all ages, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers and disabled people. In particular, there may be those who are in need but are not eligible for other forms of government support at this time.
Love Bexley will use the funds to purchase white goods, essential big items or gift them a voucher for food or heating.
HOUSEHOLDS HELPED
From March 2023 to March 2024 the Council had awarded Love Bexley £65,000, with all the money allocated through referrals from frontline professionals. Other households were also helped through the delivery of good quality second hand items and clothes:
- over 200 households were helped
- 156 vouchers were issued to help with the cost of food or heating
- 85 beds (of various sizes) with mattresses were bought and delivered
- 14 washing machines
- 11 cookers
- 9 fridge freezers
- good quality second hand clothes
- High Chairs
- sofa beds
- sofa's
- stair gates
- bed guards
- dining table and chairs
Love Bexley Support:
There are many ways you can support and become involved with Love Bexley. These could include: spending time delivering the referrals, picking up donations and either delivering or putting in our storage facility, sorting out the clothes donations and keeping a stock of them, as well as many other ways.
