What does the Bible do?

Using Psalm 19:7-9, we see that the Bible;

  • Makes us alive - The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul (v7)
  • Makes us to be wise - The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple (v7)
  • Gives us joy - the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart (v8)
  • Gives us clarity - the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes (v8)
  • Helps us to be pure - the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever (v9)
  • Helps us to be godly - the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether (v9)
