Life is better together
The church gathers on a Sunday, but Communities are where much of church life is lived out during the week, and a vital part of how we grow in God. These smaller gatherings are where we share life, grow as disciples, care for one another as family, and seek to love and serve the places God has put us. Communities are where friendships deepen, faith grows, and we learn to live out the gospel together in everyday life.

Why community matters
Communities are where church becomes personal. In smaller gatherings we are known by name, we learn from one another, and we support each other as we follow Jesus together.

Form friendships
Get to know people beyond a Sunday gathering. Names and faces become friendships, and friendships grow into a church family.

Grow in faith together
Open the Bible together, pray for one another, ask questions, and encourage each other to grow as followers of Jesus.

Do life together
Celebrate the joys and milestones of life, and walk alongside one another through the challenges and difficult seasons too.

Serve our local communities
Each Community seeks to love and serve the area around them. Some get involved with activities like cafés or youth work, as well as fostering friendship, practicing hospitality, and having everyday conversations about faith.
Judith's Story
"Truly doing life alongside my church community has allowed me to both learn and experience how to be a part of community. My husband and I have three children under 5 years old and it's wonderful having a community of people around us to help us raise our children, and for them to be a part of their lives as well."

Local gatherings
Our Communities meet in different neighbourhoods across South East London. Some gather in homes, others use community spaces or church buildings as hubs for local mission. Each Community has its own rhythm and personality, but they all share the same heart: following Jesus together and seeking to make a difference in the places we live.

Joining a Community
Communities are at the heart of church life at New Community. For those who make this church their home, being part of a Community is a key part of how we grow as disciples and share life together.
Join the Connect Community
A great first step is joining our Connect Community where you can get to know others, learn more about church life, and explore your next steps.
We also have a community for our young people aged between 11 and 18 that meets midweek to study the Bible, pray and seek God’s kingdom.
