Kids at New Community

We’re passionate about investing in the next generation! We want every child to know Jesus, love God’s Word, belong in God’s family, and grow as a disciple who shares his love with others. We run Kids Church in all of our Sunday meetings, and also have a variety of events that happen midweek for families and their children.

We're passionate about creating a place where children feel valued, heard, and safe. Every Sunday, we gather to explore faith together through stories, play, and genuine connection.

What do kids do on a Sunday?

On regular Sundays kids meet in their groups from the beginning of the meeting. During these sessions we have times of worship, teaching from the Bible, games, play and discussion. These sessions are led by teams of enthusiastic volunteers who are all DBS checked.

At regular points during the year, we also run One Church Celebrations. These moments bring every generation together so kids stay in the service as we worship and celebrate as one church family.

Process

How Sunday works

From arrival to pick up

Registration and collection

At the start of a regular Sunday, our host teams will direct you to where you can register your child when you arrive. We will also alert you should your child need you during the service.
‍
In our Sidcup meetings, having registered with us, each child will get a sticker with an ID number on, and parents will be given a card with the same number to collect their child after the meeting ends.
‍
In Eltham children are registered by the kids team at the entrance of the classrooms.

Meeting the needs of your child

If your child has an additional need, or might just need some extra support, we’d love to work with you to find out the best way to support both you and your child. You can contact our Kids Ministries Coordinator via email at sarah@newcom.church.

What's On

Midweek

Get involved outside of Sundays

Play Cafe

Stay and play with craft, story and singing time. We’re joined by a Family Community Work Coach once a month, through partnership with DWP, who offers support and advice.

Fridays 9.00am-12.00pm (term time only) - New Community Church, Sidcup, DA15 7DU.

Messy Church

A fun-filled afternoon for families to enjoy together. There is a variety of craft, games, singing and Bible teaching followed by a shared meal together. Please sign up. Bookings will open 2 weeks before the event.

Every third Saturday of the month 3.30pm-5.30pm (dates may differ during school holidays) .

Stay & Play

Stay and play for under 5 year olds with free craft, story and singing time.

Fridays 9.30am-11.30am (term time only). 1st Royal Eltham Scout Headquarters, Rear of 61-71 Southend Crescent, SE9 2SD.

Free for Families

Play Cafe

Play Cafe is a free cafe aimed at families with pre-school aged children and is open every friday (during term time) between 9.00am & 12.00pm. Each week we have a variety of toys available, including roleplay, crafts and softplay. We also have a storytime and free baby weighing scales to use. We also have a coffee bar available too.
