Amazing Grace?

At the heart of the Christian message is something the Bible calls grace.
Grace means that God loves us and welcomes us, not because we have earned it, but because of what Jesus has done for us.
Many people assume that being a Christian means trying hard to live a good life so that God will accept them. The gospel tells a very different story. Christians believe that we are accepted by God first, and then learn to live in response to that acceptance.
The Bible teaches that through Jesus, God offers forgiveness, new life, and a restored relationship with him as a gift:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.”
Ephesians 2:8
Grace means that God’s love for us is not based on how well we perform. It is rooted in what Jesus has already done. Because of this, Christians live with confidence that their relationship with God rests on his faithfulness rather than their success or failure.
This changes the way we live. Instead of obeying God out of fear or pressure, we begin to follow him out of gratitude, trust, and joy.
The Bible even says that grace helps shape the way we live:
“Grace teaches us to say ‘no’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives.”
Titus 2:12
Grace does not make following Jesus less important. It makes it possible. It frees us to live differently because we are already loved.
