Baby Thanksgiving

Every child added to a family is a gift from God. Whether through birth, adoption, fostering, or joining a family in another way, the arrival of a child is something to celebrate and give thanks for together.

From time to time we hold Baby Thanksgiving Sundays, where we publicly thank God for the children who have joined our church family and pray for them and their parents. These moments are a simple but meaningful way for the church community to celebrate with families and ask for God’s blessing on each child’s life and future.

During a Baby Thanksgiving, we pray for parents as they raise their children, and we also recognise the important role of the wider church family in supporting them along the way. It is a joyful opportunity to mark the beginning of a child’s journey surrounded by prayer, encouragement, and community.

Because we believe baptism is a response to personal faith in Jesus, Baby Thanksgiving is not the same as baptism. Instead, it is a way of giving thanks to God for the gift of a child and committing together to support them as they grow and one day have the opportunity to respond personally to Jesus for themselves.

Baby Thanksgiving Sundays are also a lovely opportunity to invite friends and family to share in this special moment.
