Why do we need the Bible?

People today are surrounded by many different voices telling us what to believe and how to live. Different cultures and perspectives offer different ideas about what is right and wrong. Christians believe that if God is real and has spoken, then what he says matters more than anything else.
The Bible is the place where we learn who God is, what he is like, and how he relates to us. It tells the story of God’s relationship with humanity and centres on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
Christians believe the Bible is not just an ancient religious book. It is God’s word given to help us know him, understand ourselves, and discover the life he created us for. Through the Bible, God speaks to guide us, challenge us, encourage us, and lead us into a relationship with him.
The Bible also helps us make sense of the world around us. It speaks honestly about human brokenness, injustice, suffering, hope, forgiveness, and new life. For many people, reading the Bible becomes the starting point of discovering who Jesus is and what it means to follow him.
Christians across the world and throughout history have trusted the Bible as the foundation for their faith and life. At New Community, the Bible sits at the centre of everything we do because we believe it helps us hear God’s voice and grow in faith.
This short video belowfrom Francis Chan explores why the Bible still matters today and why Christians continue to trust it.
